I asked God, how I explain this to a child. Here’s the example He gave:

Christmas is coming, and a little boy prays to God, night and day, to get a new PS3. Christmas comes and no PS3. The little boy is very upset.

God wasn't hearing, “I want a PS3”. What God heard were the reasons why the little boy wanted a PS3 - All his friends have PS3. He felt he didn't belong.

When He returns to school, he finds himself joining the varsity team and develops a new set of friends. Finally, he feels he belongs. This was God's answer.

Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread or a snake when he asks for a fish?

(Matthew 7:9-10)

Question: “All in God’s time” – you probably heard this expression. So, I asked God: Why don’t You respond to our prayers immediately?

God’s answer:

I am in no rush.

Question: What do You mean by “I am in no rush”?

God’s answer:

A plate of Christmas cookies and a glass of milk that children leave for Santa (Saint Nick) on Christmas Eve

I arrive just in the nick of time.

Meaning: Just like Santa Claus (Saint Nick) who arrives on Christmas Day, not before…not after. And, just like a child waiting for Santa to come, we tend to be impatient.
